Concept Statement
​
Animals look for a hole in a tree to seek shelter from harm which lead to the idea of using a hollow tree as the inspiration for this project. Like a hollow tree which has line, asymmetrical balance, texture and color. This design will incorporate all four while still keeping the feel of the Arts and Crafts bungalow. Line and texture will be represented by the layout in the three spaces. The colors of the hollow tree like brown and green will be the main colors used throughout the kitchen and bathrooms, while pops of gold give the space a feminine and luxurious feel in the bathrooms.

Problem Statement

Three women who suffer from domestic abuse will be given a secure environment to stay and raise their six children. The Enchanted Makeovers in New Jersey will design an Arts and Crafts bungalow into a home that will be a calming and welcoming place during their stay of no more than a year. The project is focused on two main spaces: the multi-cook kitchen and two bathrooms. In the kitchen there will be two separate sinks, two dishwashers, a cooktop, a microwave, a double oven, and plenty of space for the three families to prepare meals and eat together. The large bathroom will have enough space for one bath, a sink, a toilet, and would be open to both males and females. The second bathroom will be for the residents only, and will include two separate stalls, one large enough for a wheelchair and the other a standard size. There will be plenty of storage in both large bathrooms for towels and common paper supplies.
