Pediatrics

Project Statement

The clients at Linked Pediatrics have just hired KE Designs to design a waiting room that is 500-1,000 square feet for children ages two to five. They need a space that will eliminate cross contamination and maintain the child's positivity by using space, color and balance.
When a patient walks into the clinic, they are greeted by a symmetrically balance waiting room with a reception desk in the center. After getting checked in, the patient will go to right if they are having a check-up and to the left if they are sick. Each kids play area will have toys to distract them and keep them calm. Bright, exciting colors will be incorporated to draw the kids eye to the play area. With space, color and balance, KE Designs will give each patient and their family a positive, comforting experience with design.

Concept Statement

Kids learn by playing and doing which is the reason for the Lego being the inspiration for the pediatric waiting room. Circular pieces jut out from the top of the block to link to other pieces. This will be incorporated in the design by creating extrusions that jut out from the walls to serve as both art and storage. Each block is a different color so the room will have pops of color throughout the space. The curved and angular edges of the block will be incorporated in the furniture of the design like in the reception desk, chairs, and kid's tables.
