Project Statement
​
The obesity epidemic in America has risen quickly in the last decade and is now one of the leading causes of preventable death. As scholars look for solutions to address the issue, researchers have concluded that more information concerning the specific components of the built environment that can influence activity and health should be identified. Consequently, the goal of the project is to design a residential home that promotes weight loss and/or maintenance, an active lifestyle, and wellness.
Problem Statement

Emma and Andrew have lost over 150 pounds combined due to their new eating habits and activity behaviors. Now they wish to have a two- story home that suits their new lifestyle and promotes healthy behaviors and family goals in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Emma and Andrew enjoy casual entertaining, outdoor activities, and board games with their ten-year-old daughter, Grace and Great Pyrenees, Hercules. With an open budget, KE Interiors will design a high end modern home to keep Emma and Andrew both physically and mentally active while also integrating universal design.
Concept Statement

Charcoal has several health benefits like it whitens teeth, it alleviates gas and bloating, it’s mold cleansing, it filters water, it aids to skin and body health, it reduces high cholesterol, it’s a digestive cleanse and its anti-aging, which means it filters out toxins in your body which then causes an increase in energy and mental health. Along with all these health benefits, charcoal has several different characteristics. There's line, it can be smooth and simple or detailed and textured, it has asymmetrical balance, form, its dull and shiny, and its black and grey. These characteristics influenced the design to have a modern style for the home. The clients love the outdoors so the style will be natural modern. Line, form, and color like white, black, brown, and grey is what makes it modern. To make it natural modern, materials like wood and stone will be used throughout the space.
